Herding Training

Herding is an instinctive skill that, with the right training, can be perfected. Whether you're looking to train a working dog or simply improve your dog’s herding instincts, I specialise in stock dog training that focuses on instinctual control, balance, and coordination. Using techniques developed from my time managing a boarding kennel and working with stock dogs, I work closely with each dog to enhance their natural abilities. Through positive reinforcement and hands-on training, your dog will gain the confidence and skill needed to handle livestock with precision.

  • Herding training is ideal for breeds with strong herding instincts, such as Border Collies, Kelpies, Australian Shepherds, and Cattle Dogs. However, I assess each dog individually to tailor the training to their unique abilities and instincts.

  • Absolutely! Many dogs have natural instincts that can be developed even if they’ve never worked with livestock before. My training focuses on unlocking those instincts and building their confidence step by step.

  • Not necessarily. I provide access to livestock during training sessions. However, if you have access to your own livestock, I can also guide you on how to work with your dog at home for continued practice.

  • Every dog is different, but most owners see noticeable improvements after just a few sessions. The duration of training depends on your dog’s experience, natural instincts, and your goals.

Scent Detection Training

Scent Detection Training is all about precision and focus. Using methods honed through my military experience, I teach dogs how to identify and alert to specific scents with unmatched accuracy. This training is ideal for dogs working in detection roles, whether it's for security, search and rescue, or personal use. Each session is tailored to the dog’s natural abilities, helping them hone their skills step by step, all while building confidence and trust. Whether you have a seasoned working dog or a beginner eager to learn, this program is designed to help them achieve their full potential.

  • Dogs can be trained to detect a wide range of scents, including specific odours for search and rescue, security purposes, or even personal items. The type of scent depends on your goals, and I tailor the training accordingly.

  • No prior experience is required! I work with dogs of all levels, from beginners to those with some scent detection background. The training is designed to build their skills step by step.
